Palm Beach Boat Show: Thinking Of Buying? Think Of Chartering Too.

Palm Beach Boat Show: Thinking Of Buying? Think Of Chartering Too.

By HMY   March 29, 2019

The forecast is for great weather and brisk boat sales, and the venue couldn’t be better – the perfect storm for the 34th annual Palm Beach International Boat Show, taking place March 28 – 31 in beautiful downtown Palm Beach.

HMY will once again be the largest yacht brokerage exhibiting at the show, with over 60 yachts on site for inspection and dream fulfillment. This includes several HMY yachts that would be ideal charter vessles for customers who would like to consider whisking their family away to the islands or any other exotic ports-of-call in the Bahamas, the Mediterranean, New England, or elsewhere, or as a charter business that can be developed as a post-sale consideration.

Benefits of Chartering

Regardless of the scenarios, there is a yacht to suit every need in terms of experience, family size, budget, and goals.

Bob Saxon, HMY’s Vice President of Yacht Management, Crew Placement, and Yacht Charter Division, and Susan Harris, HMY’s Director of Charter, will be on hand the duration of the show and available to answer questions and provide tours.

Bob has spent his nearly-40-year career orchestrating luxury charter vacations around the globe while working with more than 3,000 yachts and owners. He believes in the immense value chartering brings to a yacht owner’s life.

He and his team ensure that current and potential owners have every available tool at their disposal when it comes to generating every possible dollar out of their vessel as they know that, for owners, chartering their yacht when not in use is a perfect way to generate a return on their substantial investment and help offset costs.

The Gentleman’s Show

Big boat shows —think FLIBS and MYS — can be daunting and exhausting. If there are those who don’t ordinarily care to withstand the rigors of a boat show, the Palm Beach Show is an entirely different experience.?Parking is close and easy, you can take the Brightline train to within walking distance of the show, and you are in the heart of downtown Palm Beach and all it has to offer in terms of restaurants and lounges.

Tim Derrico, HMY’s Director of Sales, has experienced the show since the beginning and believes Palm Beach provides the best venue for a show due to the consolidated show area. “I definitely consider Palm Beach a top 10 show globally. You can leave a 200’ yacht and walk onto a 20’ center console. Customers can park within a few blocks or even take a train in, making access a breeze. They can then leave the show and hit some fantastic restaurants. We call it the ‘gentleman’s boat show’; it’s very civilized compared to others.”

Once on site, a variety of tantalizing experiences await you when you arrive at the HMY display. You can not only see some of the most exciting sport fishing inventory in the world, but also find Bob and Susan to request a tour for your charter interests and speak about charter projections, operating expenses, and even tax considerations when buying a yacht and placing it in the charter business.?

The Palm Beach International Boat Show offers amazing yachts in beautiful surroundings, and the fun starts at HMY and the HMY Charter Division. Stop by any time, cool your heels, and let’s talk about all the wonders, fun, and income opportunities that chartering can offer.
