HMY Yacht Sales is pleased to share an exciting update about the first model in the highly anticipated ECLIPSE Express Cruiser line! Hull #001 of the ECLIPSE 505 was released from its mold last week Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing’s dedicated Eclipse production facility in Cape Town, South Africa.
A Closer Look at Production Excellence:
Every aspect of the Eclipse 505’s production is being scrutinized by the elite teams involved. Lamination of each hull with its complex Michael Peters SVVT geometry is no exception to this intense attention to detail. The golden-brown coloration of the 505 hull you are seeing in these photos is from the intentional use of “clear” gelcoat. With each Eclipse hull receiving a painted finish as standard, adding this step allows engineers to confirm each hull is perfectly laminated by Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing upon release from the mold as all surfaces are literally transparent.
Lamination is one thing, but meeting Michael Peters Yacht Design’s stringent weight specifications is another. Without strict adherence to weights and measures the Eclipse 505 will not perform as designed. Credit is due to the Two Oceans Marine Manufacturing team as once weighed, 505 hull 001 was exactly at MPYD’s specified weight.
