HMY’s Viking Yachts Update: February
OWNER’S CORNER
The 61st Annual Buccaneer Cup took place in Palm Beach January 23-27 and though the fishing was slow, the Viking and Valhalla Brands showed out and dominated the leaderboard. We would first like to congratulate all the HMY teams that participated in this legendary tournament. More specifically, we'd like to congratulate Team Valhalla 55, No Mercy, and Catch 23 on their top 5 finishes!
We caught up with the owner and captain of "No Mercy" after their strong Day 1 finish and Jeff, the owner, highlighted his crew and captain for their success stating, "They did everything possible to keep the baits in the water and the kites flying and find the fish, which they did."

TEAM MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
This month we are proud to feature HMY Yacht Sales Professional, Glenn Clyatt out of our Ocean Reef Office. Glenn arrived in Ocean Reef in 1999 as a captain of a private Sportfish that ran high-end charters. After that boat was sold in 2000, he purchased his own boat and continued running charters out of Ocean Reef. Through this experience, he began developing great relationships with the members and clients. In 2009, he ran a 60 Viking named "Mollie K" for the Karl family until 2011. He then entered the brokerage business full-time. He has been with HMY Yacht Sales since 2015, where he is a valued member of the Viking Yachts and Valhalla Boatworks Product Teams. His long-term relationship with Ocean Reef and endless knowledge in the sportfish industry make him a critical asset to the team. This past year Clyatt has sold seven New Viking and Valhalla products.
We sat down with Glenn and asked him a few questions about Viking Yachts and his experience in the build process and with the product.
What is your favorite Viking model?
"It’s always the next one I am selling, or the 80 Enclosed Bridge Viking because of its size and travel capability."
What is your favorite part of the Viking Build process?
"It would have to be factory trips with clients, families, and crew. Once a potential client gets the factory tour in the relaxed family atmosphere that Viking represents, it’s a smooth transition with on-site vendors all under one roof, it’s a home run."
What is your most memorable Viking experience?
My most memorable Viking experience was a three-day trip to Mag Bay in October 2022 on the 80 Demo where my clients and I caught 77 striped marlin and 2 1/2 days of fishing. The client Scott Segal having already two new builds on order, secured a slot for a new 80 build shortly there after the trip. I must add the professionalism and hospitality demonstrated by Captain Sean Dooley, West Rivers, Thomas Garmany, and Taylor Beckford were paramount to putting a deal together by delivering a first-class trip of a lifetime.
BUILD UPDATE
HMY and the Viking 90 Convertible: The Ultimate Partnership
Since the Viking 90 was first announced, the entire HMY New Viking Product Team has been anxious to see and get to know the new flagship, and as usual with all Viking products, the 90 has far exceeded expectations. Most importantly, HMY has had the ultimate privilege of building four of these incredible battlewagons, each slightly different, giving the team the ability to become experts for this model.
The first 90 Convertible HMY delivered was displayed at the 2023 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Hull #5 was the first Open Bridge version of the model and captured everyone’s attention as the World's ultimate open bridge convertible. With its sleek exterior design, its incredible flybridge layout providing the best forward visibility, and its tasteful interior layout and décor, HMY believes that Hull #5 may be replicated in the future.
Currently, HMY has three additional 90 Convertibles under various stages of construction. Hulls #8, #9, and #10 are all Enclosed Bridge Skybridge versions of the model, which thus far has been the most popular configuration. This configuration is the best solution for a team looking to fish in just about any destination in the world in comfort by having a full enclosed bridge for traveling, as well as the skybridge to provide an open bridge layout that is ideal for fishing and being in outdoors. Although all three of these 90s are Enclosed Bridge Skybridges, each vessel has slight differences. They all have different décor preferences such as the interior wood selection either satin or high gloss, and with various color schemes, floor and countertop selections, and wallpaper selections. The biggest difference that HMY has seen thus far with all four of the 90 Convertibles is the cockpit and aft deck layouts. Each one of our clients has specific requirements for their fishing and cruising program and has asked for the cockpits to be designed with specific items such as rod holder layouts, livewell and refrigeration layouts in the cockpit, transom, and mezzanine. As with all Vikings, the company works tirelessly to ensure that each client truly has the vessel of their dreams. With the statute of the 90 Convertible, this model is no exception, and now that HMY will have delivered 4 of them by Spring 2024, HMY has become an expert in this model. Partnering with Viking and assisting our clients throughout the build process, HMY now knows the ins and outs of the 90, and we all look forward to assisting our clients in the future with building the Viking of their dreams, the 90 Convertible.
