HMY’s Highlights Of 2020
What a year! There was no shortage of unforeseen challenges in 2020 but there were also many opportunities to grow and adapt. At HMY Yacht Sales, we rose to the occasion and our incredible team came together to find new ways to serve our clients in uncertain times. Despite a global pandemic, the yachting industry had the good fortune of being able to not only survive but to truly thrive over the past 12 months. Ultimately, HMY had a banner year and we’d like to share some of our proudest 2020 achievements with you.
SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN YEAR OVER YEAR SALES
Across the board, we saw a significant increase in sales from 2019 to 2020 with a remarkable total of 488 boats sold this year resulting in a figure of approximately $580,000,000. Who says HMY only sells sportfish and smaller boats? In 2020 we sold 32 yachts over 80’ as well as 80 Euro-built cruisers and motor yachts. For custom sportfish, we sold a total of 27 and racked up over 100 outboard boat sales. We’d like to sincerely thank our customers and our team for making this banner year possible.
STRONG VIKING YACHTS SALES
In 2020 HMY Yacht Sales and our team of Viking Yachts Specialists sold a grand total of 112 new and used Viking yachts in all size ranges and classes. The brokerage Viking market was hot with consistent, strong sales each month. We finished the year the best way possible - with the delivery of a beautiful, brand-new Viking Yachts 92’ Sky Bridge just in time for the holidays.
IMPRESSIVE PRINCESS YACHTS SALES
Sales for Princess yachts in both brokerage and new categories were notable resulting in 43 total transactions. Pre-owned Princess Yachts proved to be a hot commodity with a 2019 Princess S60 surveyed and closed in under 48 hours! Our team delivered dozens of notable new Princess Yachts such as the Y85, Y78 and F50 as well as the first R35 to be sold in North America.
NEW BAHIA MAR OFFICE
In October, we announced the opening of a brand-new location at Bahia Mar Resort & Yachting Center in the heart of Fort Lauderdale. The prime marina location of the HMY Bahia Mar office allows us to provide increased visibility and exposure for our clients.
DIGITAL MARKETING EXPLODES
In 2020, HMY’s digital initiatives accelerated our brand growth in many categories including: (listing exposure, reach, engagement, referrals, views, followers, new users, videos, virtual tours, social conversions, Google search results, as well as overall lead quantity on brokerage listings and new yachts). Every digital category of significance increased in 2020 and seeing data such as the 144% increase in HMY Yacht Sales on Google Search, and an 814% increase in visitors on Yachts for Sale pages on HMY.com were both integral factors in HMY’s success.
VIDEO AND VIRTUAL TOURS
A large part of our shift in marketing due to Covid is well represented by our explosion of listing videos and walkthroughs as well as virtual tours. We made the investment necessary to offer our customers more virtual options for viewing boats and yachts from the safety of their own home. The amount of listing videos we published to our HMY YouTube Channel in 2020 was up over 102%. Also, in a matter of a few short weeks, we cultivated an extensive, in-depth library of 360-degree virtual tours to serve as another online resource for our customers who are conducting yacht search.
SUCCESS AT FLIBS 2020
The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show was one of the only yachting events to move forward in 2020 and HMY had the largest display with 25 brokerage boats available for viewing. The smaller crowds at this year’s show gave qualified buyers more time and space to walk through vessels of interest which turned out to be a great benefit. HMY secured a healthy number of sales out of FLIBS 2020 with deals on seventeen yachts.
