Overview
Building on the success of the iconic Viking 70 Convertible (2011–16), Viking's reputation for building world-class sportfishing yachts is on full display with the magnificent 72 Convertible. The 72 Convertible is designed and engineered to function equally well as a tournament-ready offshore runner or luxurious cruising yacht with all the conveniences and technology expected in a Viking yacht.
Accommodations
Available in Open and Closed Bridge configurations, the lush four-stateroom, four-head interior of the Viking 72 features a day head at the starboard entrance door to the salon, U-shaped seating area to port, and a large walk-in pantry forward of the galley. The Enclosed Bridge salon layout mirrors the Open Bridge plan with the addition of a circular staircase to the enclosed bridge which serves as a second salon. The spacious master stateroom — midship and to port — includes a king-size bed, two nightstands, and two large wardrobes. A queen berth or crossover berths are available in the forward stateroom.
Cockpit
An observation mezzanine with aft-facing lounge seating, pullout bait trays, washdowns, and a bait freezer overlooks the Viking 72's enormous 209 square-foot cockpit complete with refrigerated step box, rod and tackle storage, and in-deck fish boxes. A Seakeeper gyro stabilizer has been a popular option.
Performance
MTU 2,635hp 16V2000 engines cruise at 35 knots and produce a top speed in the mid-40-knot range. The hull is a modified V with no keel and a fine entry forward transitioning to 11.5 degrees of deadrise at the transom.
