HMY Yacht Sales was the first to produce an in-depth video walkthrough of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show “Best Of Show” award winner - The new Viking Yachts 54’ Convertible. Join our Yacht Sales Professional and Viking Specialist Rob Spano as he shares the many exciting features to be found aboard the new Viking 54.
Starting back in the transom, we have the dual purpose live well fish box with cutting board starboard application underneath. Scuppers are threaded for the on deck live well discharge and you will notice the flush mounted rod holders. There are two in-deck fish boxes port and starboard. A beautiful release marine rocket launcher is the center piece of the fishing action in the cockpit of the 54. As you can tell, the cockpit will easily be able to accommodate four to six anglers at any time. The Viking 54 Convertible is designed to be a serious white marlin and sail fishing boat. It will be right at home here on the east coast of Florida. In the mezzanine area you’ll find a lot of refrigeration. Underneath the seat is a freezer and there is a bait box in the step as well a drink box in the center. There is engine room access from the cockpit through the center hatch. The spacious size of the Gyro hatch really allows you to get in there and perform any maintenance necessary. The Gryo hatch also provides access to your rudder posts string rams bilge pumps. Viking has already plumbed for the on deck live well supply system that's going to go on this boat with additional seacocks.
Next, we will head up to the bridge and take a look at the helm on this Viking 54. You’ll notice the pair of triple spreader Rupp Outriggers with the heavy duty big rig back bar which provides extra support when you're running hard. One of the many reasons fishing on a boat this size is so great is that when you're standing behind the helm of this 54’ you've got all the electronics and all your switches within arm's reach. You're not having to come down off a pedestal and reach for things. At the helm you’ve got two large Garmin displays as well as a Garmin display up top. Engine readouts and all your switching are on the flush mounted panel which looks very clean and neat plus makes it easy to read. This boat is rigged out with the Release helm chairs Contour Series. There's plenty of seating up here port and starboard. There are long bench seats as well some nice comfortable seating in front of the helm with drink holders. There are also the two back rest port and starboard which make for a nice lounging spot while running. It’s no surprise that this Viking 54’ is going to end up being a fisherman's dream and to showcase that, HMY has taken this hull number one and we will be demonstrating her fishing capabilities during this winter’s local sailfishing tournaments in South Florida.
This boat was built with a custom package from Palm Beach Towers. Up on the tower you've got your controls and instruments as well as drink holders. There are start and stop buttons on the port radio box, a nice Garmin display and a fresh water wash down spigot which makes it easier to clean up at the end of the day instead of dragging the hose up the ladder. There is a nice blackout matte black finish on the buggy top as well as the top of the console to help with cutting down glare while you're trying to spot fish.
The first impressions you get when walking into the galley and the salon area is the incredible amount of space. You’ll immediately notice the generous beam. At over 17 and a half feet wide there's plenty of room in here. There are a lot of seating options including a nice couch to the port side and two bar stools. Immediately to right you've got your liquor cabinet and storage as well as your breaker panel. Moving forward is the settee – an ideal seating area for three or four guests. There's also a large tv that's visible from anywhere. The galley features a four-burner stove top as well as a convection microwave. There is a great deal of pull out storage and drawers up top as well as under counter storage. The modern tile backsplash makes for a beautiful design element. There are four Subzero drawers – two are refrigerated and two are freezers. The galley also includes a convenient trash can that's pulled out on rollers. At the bottom of the stairs starting on the companionway is a stackable full-size washer and dryer. Up in the bow of the Viking 54’ is the VIP stateroom which features the crossover berths. Located underneath both bunks is lift up storage which does provide areas for spare parts or filters. There is independent air conditioning control as well as satellite tv control in each state room. The forward VIP crossover stateroom does share its head with the starboard side bunk room. The starboard head features a full-size walk-in shower with a hinged glass door. The third stateroom on the 54’ Convertible is a huge bonus for anybody looking for extra space to accommodate the kids, friends, relatives or even the occasional crew while embarking on tournament or travel situations. The owners will really appreciate the spacious master stateroom with its light and bright interior, roomy accommodations and an entertainment system that's really going to let you enjoy your downtime. The master stateroom also has a hanging locker with additional storage below with some pull out drawers as well as a full-size head that features a walk-in shower.
The engine room on the Viking Yachts 54’ is a sight to behold and the centerpieces are these 12-cylinder MAN 1550 horsepower engines which are going to push this boat to a comfortable mid 30 knot cruise. With the conservative fuel burn on these engines and over 1500 gallons of fuel with the third optional tank, the Viking 54’ is going to give you that sense of comfort with this increased range capable of getting you to those extended destinations from port to port.
