Bob Saxon of HMY Yachts Inducted into the CYBA Int’l Charter Hall of Fame
HMY Yacht Sales is proud to announce that Bob Saxon, Vice President of HMY’s Yacht Management, Crew Placement, and Yacht Charter Division was inducted into the Charter Yacht Brokers Association (CYBA) International Hall of Fame during the Antigua Charter Yacht Meeting that took place December 4-10, 2018. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding industry professionals who have made a significant impact on the charter industry.
With over 40 years of experience in the industry, Bob’s expertise when it comes to yacht charters is unparalleled. A dominant force in the yacht charter arena, Bob has also served as Executive Director of the Florida Yacht Brokers Association and President of the International Yacht Brokers Association. Now as the head of HMY’s successful HMY Charter Vacations division, Bob has plotted the course for HMY’s Charter Division to continue growing to greater lengths.
When asked about being recognized for his lifetime achievements in the yacht charter profession, Bob remarked, “To be lauded by your peers is the greatest honor. It was wonderful to be on-site in Antigua, arguably the birthplace of yacht charter, with so many of my colleagues in attendance, many of whom have worked with me, and for me, and have gone on to great heights in the charter world.”

Not only was Bob inducted into the CYBA International Hall of Fame during the Antigua Charter Yacht Meeting, his former colleagues paid tribute to him with their fond recollections. Reminiscing about her time working with Bob, former colleague Dee Kraley recalled, “Bob Saxon hired me off charter yachts in 1996... At that time, we had no internet or cell phones; however, we had the busiest and likely the largest fleet of charter yachts in the industry. Bob Saxon gave me such a strong fundamental base of what it meant to be a central agent, that these fundamentals are still with me today, just fine-tuned a bit over the years.”
Basic fundamentals are not the only lessons Bob instills amongst his peers. Saxon’s philosophy of teamwork is also something that Kraley recalls vividly: “Bob’s philosophy was that a company was like a team – and it was a matter of tapping the right players. The fine line that central agents have to walk can be quite challenging – however, Bob Saxon taught me how to walk this line with grace, confidence and knowledge.” This same philosophy has helped Bob cultivate the HMY Charter Vacations division and elevate its success to the next level.

A plaque recognizing Bob’s achievement as a CYBA International Hall of Fame Inductee is now proudly displayed on the Wall of Honor in the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, adjacent to the historic Admiral’s Inn at English Harbour alongside the few other charter professionals who have been fortunate enough to receive this honor.
