A Close-Up Look at the Viking Yachts 75′ Motor Yacht

What makes Viking Yachts’ 75MY feel unquestionably like a Viking? It starts with the exterior.

Quite simply, it looks like a Viking. The first glimpse of this magnificent motor yacht immediately lets you know who built it.

Like its sportfishing brethren, the 75 is a quality, performance-oriented design, with a sleek, curvy exterior profile and other style cues taken from Viking convertibles. This sportfishing heritage is one of the key differentiators between a Viking motor yacht and the competition.

To ensure the 75 lived up to Viking’s world-class reputation while offering the utmost in world-class luxury, the Viking design team collaborated with Michael Peters Yacht Design of Sarasota, FL.

While retaining the signature molded feature lines on the hull and superstructure, the Michael Peters-designed hull is brand new. The new design maximizes space and power to accommodate the optional twin Caterpillar C32-A engines pushing a smooth 1,925 hp each. The 75’s convertible running surface allows the vessel to not only utilize the available horsepower to its best advantage for speed and efficiency, but also provides ease of handling and maneuverability. These elements are major differences between Viking’s 75MY and other motor yachts of similar and even longer LOA.

As Yachting magazine exclaimed in their review, “She had Ferrari-like performance and the ability to bank and turn like an F-15.”

The bold exterior also features an attractive teardrop salon window design, rounded port lights, and master stateroom hull side windows, all of which contribute style and function.

Further reminders of Viking’s sportfish heritage are the fiberglass top and raked side supports, both throwbacks to the popular Viking Sky Bridge, seen on many Enclosed Bridge models.

Fully engage relaxation mode on the 75’s abundant decks. The bow’s main exterior deck provides lounge seating along with a large sun pad to soak in the ocean views while underway.

Easily venture to the main aft deck, or prep for handling dock lines or anchoring, via the wide side decks accompanied by a full wrap-around anodized aluminum bow rail.

The main aft deck features a U-shape lounge and table perfect for al fresco dining. Twin molded fiberglass staircases lead down to the integrated molded swim platform, which is planked with teak for secure footing for boarding, as well as water sports activities. If you fancy heading up to the bridge, the well-placed floating staircase to starboard is conveniently accessed from the main aft deck.

OPEN BRIDGE

As mentioned in our blog about the 75’s interior, the 75 is also offered with an open bridge to more closely connect you with the sea.

Featured up top on the open bridge are a centerline helm, a hi-low table, refrigerator/freezer, and LED TV. Aft you’ll find deck chairs, a portside grill, and a teak sole, creating a perfect space for entertaining guests or relaxing with the captain while underway.

In the enclosed bridge, the deck area is ultra-quiet with entry doors closed and even with the space open, no shouting is needed for conversation.
