As the world leader in the design and construction of open express boats, the Viking Open series (38O, 44O, 48O, and the new 54O) are suitable for a variety of on-the-water activities including cruising, diving, and sportfishing. The hulls have enough flare to shrug off most of any sea, and extra-large cockpits provide plenty of space for fishing or entertainment. With the helm close to the cockpit, open-style layouts have long been the perfect choice for the owner/operator who wants to stay close to the action in the cockpit. Exciting performance, spacious command decks, and beautifully finished interiors combine to make the Viking Open series the only logical choice for sportfishing enthusiasts. Owners searching for successful offshore fishing, handling, heightened visibility, and intelligent use of space will find all of that in the Viking Open series for sale.
More than visually stunning, the Viking Sky Bridge series 74SB, 82SB, and 90SB, (models) combine the heightened sightlines of an elevated control station with the weather protection and comfort of a Viking Enclosed Bridge yacht. Viking’s Design and Engineering Department perfected the proportions of the sky bridge yachts, skillfully and artfully fusing the hull, deckhouse, enclosed bridge, and sky bridge in a series of drop-dead gorgeous boats. The sky bridge not only enhances fishability with its 360-degree sightlines, but it also increases each model’s appeal as a cruising yacht. In the Viking tradition, the interior of each Viking Sky Bridge yacht is a showpiece of elegance and luxury.
Available in the Sport Tower (ST) and Sport Coupe (SC) configurations, the expanding Viking Sport Yacht fleet now includes eight models ranging from 44 to 54 feet in length. The Sport Tower series — the 44ST, 48ST, and 54ST) are distinguished by a custom tuna tower from Viking subsidiary Palm Beach Towers, while Sport Coupe versions- the 44SC, 48SC, and 54SC) come with a radar arch of the mast. Below, each Viking Sport Yacht interior abounds with hand-finished teak joinery and luxury-class appointments. Whether moving up or moving down throughout the Viking fleet, Sport Yacht models are true blue-water champions in spirit, performance, and accommodations. The hydraulic steering and stainless-steel rudders give precise control when chasing down big game fish in tournaments yet offer plush and comfortable interiors.

Viking has become the global leader when it comes to building quality sportfishing yachts and motor yachts. Founded in the early 1960s by Bob and Bill Healey, Viking built its vessels much like Carolina builders, assembling the boats on frames at intervals throughout the manufacturing facility. By 1972, they were working on the first all-fiberglass model, the Viking 33C, and building their way into history as one of the finest yacht brands in the world.
In less than a decade, Viking quickly became a major U.S.-based yacht builder. In the 80s, they incorporated innovations that would change the sportfishing market forever. Re-investing their own money in the early 90s, the brand has been on top of the world ever since.
Viking Yachts does most of its manufacturing in house, resulting in an unparalleled level of quality control from concept to finished yacht, which has helped it maintain an untouchable reputation with Viking owners.
The innovative technology, such as advanced resin infusion for the tankage and engine-room vent, industry-leading flying bridge advances, tuna towers, forward and aft bait stations, outriggers, and more have helped keep the Viking brand at the top of the game.
Today, the Healey family still presides over the company, maintaining the quality brand that Viking has come to represent for more than half a century. Viking’s state-of-the-art nearly 1,000,000 square foot development and manufacturing facility houses over 2,000 employees who craft the finest yachts on the market.
Viking Yachts are built in New Gretna, New Jersey, at the Viking Yacht Company's nearly 1,000,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. The Healey family produces more than 90% of every yacht in-house, employing over 2,000 craftspeople to maintain quality control from initial layup through final commissioning.
Viking Yachts is owned by the Healey family. Brothers Bob and Bill Healey founded the company in 1964 when they bought Peterson-Viking Builders, a small New Jersey builder of 37-foot wooden sportfishing boats. Pat Healey serves as President and CEO today, and the Healey family continues to lead the privately-held company from its New Gretna, New Jersey headquarters.
New Viking Yachts range from the 38 Billfish — the entry point to the Viking lineup — up to the 92 Convertible flagship, with new builds priced in the multi-million-dollar range and large flagship models exceeding $20 million. Pre-owned Viking Yachts at HMY are available across a wide range of model years and price points.

Founded in the early 1960s by Bob and Bill Healey, Viking built its vessels much like Carolina builders, assembling the boats on frames at intervals throughout the manufacturing facility. By 1972 they were already working on the first all-fiberglass model, the Viking 33C, and building their way into history as one of the finest yachting brands in the world. Viking quickly grew into a major U.S.-based yacht builder and leader in its industry in less than a decade. In the 80's Viking incorporated some new innovations in their builds furthering their place in the industry. Re-investing with their own money in the early '90s, the brand has been on top of the world ever since. From a 38-foot sportfishing boat to 90-foot motor yachts with semi-custom fiberglass, advanced flybridges, tuna towers, and impressive outriggers, Viking yachts carry a tradition of excellence, innovative technology, and family history. “Building a better boat every day” is the mantra of the Viking Yacht Company. Viking prides itself on its renowned manufacturing capabilities. From the initial design to the finished product, the Viking brand is widely known in yachting circles as a world-class line of sportfish and motor yacht vessels. Customers can expect nothing but the absolute best quality from stem to stern which results in long-term satisfaction.
The Viking Yacht Company has celebrated over six decades in business building luxury performance sportfishing and cruising yachts. Started by brothers Bob and Bill Healey in 1964 when they bought Peterson-Viking Builders, a small, New Jersey builder of 37-foot, wooden sportfishing boats, Viking Yachts has grown to become a world leader in semi-custom fiberglass yacht production with over 4,000 Vikings delivered.
Viking prides itself on its renowned manufacturing capabilities. From the initial design to the finished product, Viking’s highly regarded reputation is rooted in the company’s commitment to producing 90% of the boat in house. Except for components such as engines, transmissions, pumps, hoses, air conditioning units, electronics, and entertainment systems, virtually everything else is produced in house by their talented workforce. This helps Viking produce the finest quality yacht in the world for our customers.
Viking Yachts is known as a worldwide leader in all size classes, however, their proficiency is particularly strong in the 50-to-60-foot sportfish genre, where Viking has introduced 10 models in the past two decades. This legacy fleet consists of more than 600 Vikings and includes ground-breaking models such as the 60 and 55, two renditions of the 52 Convertible, and the second-generation 54. “No one has done a better job in this segment of the market,” says Viking President and CEO Pat Healey. “Over the last 20 years, we've designed more boats from 50 to 60 feet than any other manufacturer in the industry. This is absolutely our sweet spot.”
Viking leads the industry in every facet of yacht manufacturing, and it all starts at the design stage where Viking’s Design and Engineering Department pushes the boundaries of naval architecture while incorporating 60 years of experience and expertise. Creating new innovative models for their customers illustrates a commitment to "Lead Not Follow," a key component of the Viking Difference.
The evolution of the design process now includes Viking’s use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software from the company Orca3D, which allows Viking to conduct "virtual tank tests." In-house CFD software gives Viking’s Design and Engineering team the ability to run numerous virtual trials for each of their new models to optimize running surfaces for better performance. By using CFD Viking is saving time and expenses and they’re able to easily create and test multiple design variations in-house. It gives Viking greater freedom and flexibility when creating designs for new boats and the ability to promptly fine-tune existing yachts in the Viking fleet.”
Viking’s use of the Computational Fluid Dynamics software for new yacht models began with the 58 Convertible and has been used to design the 38 Billfish, 38 Open Billfish, and 46 Billfish. Viking has invested in a powerful computer that can complete CFD simulations in under eight hours. “CFD analysis is now an integral part of the design process,” says Lonni Rutt, Vice President of Design and Engineering. “It really allows you to define what works and what doesn’t work. Once you eliminate what doesn’t work, you can focus on the changes that are yielding the most positive results.”

Whether it’s a fiberglass fuel tank, a wiring harness labeled every eight inches, or a hull-to-deck joint through-bolted every three inches, owners can be sure of incomparable quality. Driven by an unrelenting desire for continuous innovation and development, and with a massive 1,000,000+ square foot manufacturing facility loaded with advanced machinery as a playground and testing lab, Viking’s engineers never stop tinkering.
The legendary Viking deep V hull is another place where technology helps reduce unnecessary weight. Resin infusion technology and precisely patterned and fitted laminate and coring materials provide improved tensile strength and rigidity resulting in larger fuel capacities, longer range, and faster more efficient cruising speeds. The vacuum suction in resin infusion works by drawing out air from the materials while pulling the resins in to replace the empty space, which allows for the resin to be evenly pulled into every pore of the materials, resulting in stronger hulls and superstructures with dramatically less chance of delamination issues or weight inconsistencies.
The build time for a Viking yacht depends on the model and customization level, but generally ranges from several months to over a year. Each yacht is carefully crafted to ensure the highest standards of quality, and Viking’s team works closely with owners throughout the process to deliver a vessel that exceeds expectations.
You can schedule a tour or sea trial by contacting us at HMY Yachts. We will guide you through the available models, coordinate a visit to the Viking factory, and arrange a sea trial so you can experience the Viking difference firsthand. Additionally, each year Viking hosts the Viking VIP Preview at the Viking Service Center in Riviera Beach, FL. This exclusive event typically happens at the end of January or early February. It is RSVP only and a great opportunity to see Viking models up close and get a chance to hop on board without boat show crowds.
Viking Yachts provide comprehensive warranties that cover the hull and other critical components, giving owners peace of mind. Additionally, Viking’s commitment to customer service ensures prompt support and assistance long after the purchase. Specific warranty terms vary by model, so it’s best to contact HMY Yacht Sales for further details.
