Features
Cockpit and open bridge
The cockpit measures just under 230 square feet, with a transom fishbox/livewell, in-deck fishboxes and mezzanine storage. The boat is engineered for a Seakeeper 40 installation beneath a centerline hatch. The walkaround helm and raised platform give the captain a view aft to the cockpit.
Five staterooms, six heads
The full-beam master has a king berth. Guest and crew cabins have their own heads, and a day head is located off the salon. The fore-and-aft galley, raised dinette and rod-and-tackle storage support longer trips.
Current model and earlier 82s
This page covers the current 82 Convertible, which followed the Viking 80. The earlier 82 Convertible introduced in 2009 has different dimensions and specifications. When comparing used Viking 82 Convertibles, check the year and individual boat’s equipment.
Choosing a bridge layout
The Open Bridge has an outdoor helm. The 82 Enclosed Bridge adds a protected upper helm and lounge; the 82 Sky Bridge adds an open helm above it.

Performance & Power
Standard power is twin CAT C32A diesels rated at 1,925 MHP each. Optional packages include CAT C32B and MTU 2000-series engines.
Viking’s published performance target with optional 2,635 MHP MTU engines and the Advanced Viking Propulsion System is 42 knots at full load and a 36-knot cruise. These are manufacturer targets for that package, not guaranteed speeds for a standard-power boat. Engine choice, equipment and delivery timing are confirmed with HMY when the build specification is agreed.
