The first jumbo center console to appear on the U.S. market, the Yellowfin 42 continues to set the standard for what a muscular, no-holds-barred center console should be. Introduced in 2008, she’s a proven tournament contender combining fully cored composite construction with a highly efficient layout and the ability to run hard in severe conditions. Like most of today’s big center consoles, the 42 rides on a high performance stepped hull designed to reduce drag and friction. Seating options include a wraparound bow lounge with electric rams that elevate the cushions forming forward-facing lounges. Rod holders are everywhere. Below deck, a well-finished cabin includes twin berths, standup shower, electric head, microwave, and a teak-and-holly sole. In 2013, Yellowfin redesigned the 42 by replacing the seated livewell with a transom livewell, adding a hullside door to ease entry, and moving the console and leaning post forward 18 inches to reduce bow rise and increase cockpit space. Exemplary fit and finish throughout. Cruise at over 40 knots (about 60 top) with four Mercury 300hp Verado—or triple Yamaha F350—outboards. To many offshore anglers, this is about as good as it gets in a big center console.
