52 Sonship

1993–95

West Bay Yachts 52 Sonship
A handsome yacht with a contemporary raised pilothouse profile, the West Bay 52 Sonship is basically a scaled-down version of the larger West Bay 58 Sonship. Both models share the same twin-chine modified-V hull with Airex coring, underwater exhausts, and a fully integrated swim platform. The three-stateroom floorplan of the 52 Sonship is arranged with the galley in the wheelhouse rather than aft, in the salon—an ideal arrangement for shorthanded cruising. This, combined with the boat’s wide beam and large cabin windows, results in a spacious and very comfortable salon. Note that the flybridge can be accessed from inside via a staircase behind the small dinette (there’s also a ladder in the cockpit). Wide side decks provide safe passage around the entire main deck, and the large cockpit—which is partially shaded by a bridge overhang—comes with storage lockers, a transom door, and direct access to the standup engine room. Topside, the flybridge features a pop-up electronics console, seating for six, and dinghy storage aft. Standard 400hp 6V53 Detroits cruise the West Bay 52 at 16 knots and reach a top speed just under 20 knots.
