Sporty styling, a spacious interior, and an affordable price made the Wellcraft 3700 Martinique a serious competitor in the big family cruiser market of the early 2000s. Built on a deep-V hull with a wide 13-foot beam, the Martinique sleeps six below in a midcabin floorplan that seems surprisingly open and comfortable. In a departure from so many midcabin interiors, a solid doorinstead of a curtainseparates the bow stateroom from the main cabin. The galley may be a little compact, but there are more storage lockers and compartments in the Martinique than in most other boats her size. Laminated cherry woodwork is used throughout the interior, and a pair of deck hatches provide a small amount of natural lighting. Outside, the single-level cockpit can accommodate a small crowd with a sun lounge opposite the double helm seat and wraparound lounge seating aft. Additional features include a cockpit wet bar, a walk-through windshield, an electrically activated engine room hatch, transom door, and transom shower. Twin 380hp MerCruiser gas engines (with V-drives) will cruise the 3700 Martinique at 20 knots (2830 knots wide open).
