Introduced in 1991, the Viking 65 Motor Yacht combined a lavish four-stateroom interior with a spacious aft deck and a huge flybridge to create a versatile and extremely comfortable cruising yacht. The styling is clearly improved over the earlier 63 Motor Yacht (the boat she replaced in the Viking fleet) with a sweeping flybridge profile and raised wraparound bulwarks. There are many highlights in this boatthe utility room, the enclosed eat-in galley, and the convenient deckhouse day head are certainly notablebut the opulent master suite of the 65, with its walk-in wardrobe, home-size head, and floor-to-ceiling entertainment center (with refrigerator and wineglass storage, no less) simply dominates the layout. A sliding glass salon door opens to the huge aft deck whose sliding (not hinged) wing doors are unique. Topside, the extended flybridge has a wraparound helm and seating for a dozen guests. Note that the large engine room allows space for lift mufflersmuch quieter than the baffled exhausts used in earlier Viking 55s and 63 MYs. A good sea boat, standard 1,000hp MANs cruise the Viking 65 MY at 20 knots (low 20s top).
