Fast and agile with muscular lines and yacht class accommodations, a backlog of advance orders made the Viking 65 Convertible a sales success before the first hull was ever commissioned. Available in Open and Enclosed Bridge configurations, the Viking 65 came in two interior layouts. A four-stateroom configuration features two cabins with queen berths and two others with over/under bunks, and a three-stateroom arrangement with a lounge/office area in lieu of the crew quarters (with direct engine room access) aft of the master. Both layouts provide a private head for each cabin. A spiral staircase in the salon of the Enclosed Bridge model provides access to the climate controlled upper level which doubles as a second salon. (An aft steering station facilitates docking and fishing maneuvers.) The massive 179 square-foot cockpit of the Viking 65 comes with a full array of tournament-class fishing amenities. In 2002 Viking introduced an updated prop-pocket hull with slightly less draft. Detroit (or MTU) 1800hp diesels cruise at over 30 knots (mid 30s top). Equally well suited for extended cruising or serious offshore fishing, over 80 of these yachts were sold.
