The most compelling feature of the Trojan 13 Meter Express is her massive beam—the cockpit and cabin proportions in this boat are truly immense. (Indeed, the 13 Meter is so wide that she’ll be a tight fit in many 45-foot slips.) She’s built on a fully cored, low-deadrise hull with broad chine flats and side-dumping exhausts. Below deck, her spacious two-stateroom floorplan is a blend of designer fabrics, curved bulkheads, and white Formica counters—a high-style decor in the 1980s, but definitely dated by today’s earth-tone standards. The forward stateroom in the 13 Meter is huge and came with an air-operated compartment door. There are over/under berths in the guest stateroom, and the dinette table in the salon can be electrically raised and lowered. Visibility from the double helm seat is surprisingly good, and there’s room in the enormous cockpit to entertain a small army. A center vent in the windshield is electrically operated, and large hatches in the bridge deck provide access to the big engine room. (Note the absence of a cockpit transom door.) A bow pulpit, swim platform, and radar arch were standard. GM 735hp 8V92 diesels will provide an honest 30-knot cruising speed and a top speed of 32+ knots.
