The Topaz 32 Express (called the 33 Express in 2007) is an updated version of the original Topaz 32 Sportfisherman built from 1986 to 1991. While the two boats share the same basic hull design, the newer model incorporates modifications to the running surface aimed at reducing the bow-high running angles that plagued her predecessor. The two boats share little in the way of appearance—the 32 Express has a semi-custom look that blows away the old 32 SF. Too, the bridge deck sits several inches higher than in the old model. This not only makes for a larger engine compartment; it dramatically improves helm visibility as well. The cockpit includes such standard features as a raw-water washdown, large-capacity macerated fish box, three-tray tackle box, and a bait freezer/tackle station. Note the clean transom—with the fish box located in the sole and the livewell positioned forward, the entire stern is open for fishing. Below decks, the teak-trimmed cabin includes a large berth forward, a dinette that folds into a second berth, fully enclosed head, and rod storage over the main berth. No lightweight, the Topaz 32 will cruise at 25–26 knots with 370hp Cummins diesels (about 30 knots top).
