Introduced in 1988, the Tollycraft 53 is a spacious pilothouse yacht from a company known for building some of the best-quality production boats of her era. Designed by Ed Monk, the 53 is a traditional pilothouse cruising yacht whose wide 16'11"" beam results in a vast interior with the living space of a much larger yacht. The large main salon features a curved leather sofa to port, lounge chairs opposite, and built-in entertainment center. The pilothouse area—accented with teak flooring—includes a centerline helm, portside dinette, U-shaped galley, and access door to the starboard side deck. Below, the full-beam master suite with walkaround queen bed is amidships. Forward of the master is a portside guest stateroom with twin bunks. Further forward is the main guest cabin with queen size berth and full length wardrobe closet. Both guest staterooms share a common head. The very spacious flybridge is accessed from a ladder in the cockpit or stairwell from the starboard forward side deck. On the downside, the cockpit is small. GM 550hp 6V92 diesels cruise at 16–17 knots, and GM 735hp 8V92 diesels cruise in the low 20s.
