When she came out in 1990, the 39 Sport Yacht combined a modern Euro-style appearance and a somewhat unusual deck plan in a manner not seen in previous Tollycraft products. Built on a solid fiberglass hull with a wide beam and a stylish reverse transom, the 39 Sport Yacht can be described as a 34-foot double cabin with a big cockpit, a tiny flybridge, and a very small aft deck. Her low-profile deckhouse is made possible because V-drives place the engines beneath the cockpit rather than placing them below the salon sole in the conventional manner, a unique arrangement in a boat of this type. The salon seems rather poorly arranged—the galley counter juts into the middle of the room and eats up a lot of living space. Note that the engine compartment is a tight fit and working space is at a premium. Additional features include plenty of interior storage, a bow pulpit, and a swim platform. Standard 454-cid gas engines cruise around 17–18 knots with a top speed of 24 knots. Optional 250hp 8.2 Detroits cruise at 17 knots and reach 20 knots wide open. Just over 20 Tollycraft 39 Sport Yachts were built during her production run.
