Tiara Yachts
5200 Sovran Salon
2003–06
The Tiara 5200 Sorvan is a distinctly American sportscruiser from a company whose reputation for quality is recognized throughout the industry. The 5200 may lack the ultra-sleek styling and high-speed performance of high-end European express yachts, but her fully enclosed pilothouse—with its dual reclining seats, built-in wet bar, and concealed flat-panel TV—creates a luxurious, weather-protected living space seldom found in her European counterparts. Built on a fully cored hull with a wide beam and prop pockets, the posh interior of the Sovran is a blend of teak joinery, hardwood flooring, designer fabrics, and Ultraleather upholstery. Two floorplans were available: Plan A is a two-stateroom layout with a huge salon and the galley aft, while Plan B features three private staterooms with the galley forward in the salon. In the cockpit, electric tables rise for dining and lower for use as a cushion-covered sun pad. Note the power sunroof, foredeck sun pad, and aft-facing cockpit seats. A huge storage trunk is built into the transom, and the extended swim platform is designed to carry a dinghy or PWC. Cat 865hp C15 diesels cruise at a respectable, if not exciting, 26 knots (low 30s top).
