An impressive yacht from one of America’s finest builders, bold styling and triple IPS engine configuration set the Tiara 5800 Sovran apart from everything in her class when she was introduced in 2008. This is a well conceived boat—her luxurious aft deck amenities, wide-open upper-level salon, and efficient galley-down floorplan offer unsurpassed cruising and entertaining possibilities. The helm deck is forward of the salon and up two steps, and huge wraparound windows provide panoramic views of the water. A retractible sunroof opens up even more sunlight and fresh air. The Sovran’s full-service galley is located in the center of the floorplan where it’s convenient to the salon or the dinette below. The forward stateroom features a queen-size berth, while the full-beam master stateroom adds hullside windows for natural light and a foyer with concealed washer/dryer and linen closet. Topside, a large transom locker hides a remote controlled davit for tenders or PWC’s. Built with all-composite stringers and end-grain Balsa core for both the hull and deck, the Sovran is still no lightweight. Triple IPS 600 Volvo inboards with joystick controls cruise at 26–28 knots (low 30s top).
