The Stamas 290 Express combines the conservative styling, thoughtful layout, and solid construction boaters have come to expect over the years in a Stamas product. She rides on a solid fiberglass hull with an integrated transom and a relatively wide 10'4"" beam. Like most modern express boats, the Stamas 290 is a multipurpose fishing boat designed to meet the needs of anglers who want the cabin amenities of a small family cruiser. The no-frills interior is arranged with a dinette/V-berth forward, enclosed head with shower to starboard, compact galley with stove and refrigerator to port, and small midcabin berth tucked directly under the helm station. The 290s single-level cockpit features a 20-gallon transom baitwell, insulated fish box, built-in tackle box, washdowns, and transom door. The helm seat is elevated (to make room for the midcabin below) and visibility is excellent. Note that the original double helm pod was replaced in 1998 with a separate helm seats. Wide side decks are a plus, and four opening ports provide ventilation in the cabin. Available with inboard or outboard power, 225hp Yamaha outboards cruise at 2628 knots (40+ top). A single 230hp Yanmar diesels will cruise at 2022 knots.
