Skipjack

35 Sport Cruiser

1990–95

Skipjack 35 Sport Cruiser
An unusually styled boat with a profile only an owner could love, the Skipjack 35 Sport Cruiser nonetheless combines the solid construction, excellent engineering, and good handling characteristics common to all Skipjack models. Until recently, the Sport Cruiser was the largest boat ever built by Skipjack, and as in previous designs, the emphasis was on simple practicality. Her low-profile appearance is the result of using V-drives to locate the motors aft, under the cockpit. This allows the cabin to be set well down in the hull and allows for a larger and more spacious cabin than similar flybridge designs with the engines beneath the salon. There are berths for four below, two in the small forward stateroom and two in the salon. Both the galley and head are aft, just inside the companionway—a sensible layout in a fishing boat. A transom door was standard, and twin hatches in the cockpit sole provide good access to the motors. The wraparound helm console on the flybridge is a gem—the result, no doubt, of much experience. Among several engine options, twin 250hp Cummins diesels cruise the Skipjack 35 at 20 knots and deliver 24–25 knots wide open.
