Shamrocks 270 Mackinaw is a durable single-engine inboard cruiser with a fully enclosed pilothouse and a large fishing cockpit. This is a boat ideally suited for northern anglers and cruisers alike, and shes in a class by herself since there are no other production inboard boats of her type on the market. Unlike smaller Shamrock models, the 270 rides on a conventional modified-V hull rather than the companys signature Keel Drive hull. With only 27 feet to work with, the Mackinaws interior is practical but necessarily confining. The cabin contains a small galley as well as a dinette with a removable table and a fully equipped helm station to starboard. A V-berth below sleeps two comfortably, but the enclosed head is very small with only sitting headroom. The cockpit has aft-facing bench seating, and standard features include a transom door, in-deck fish/storage box, transom livewell, raw-water washdown, gunnel rod holders, opening cabin windows, and a molded bow pulpit. A swim platform was a popular option. Heavily built and well finished, the 270 Mackinaw will cruise at 18 knots with a standard 320hp gas engine (high 20s top). Close to 100 were built.
