Among several big express cruisers available in recent years, the Sea Ray 390 Sundancer (called the 40 Sundancer in 200609) is notable for her sleek styling and distinctive fiberglass hardtop. Sea Ray has been building top-quality family cruisers since the 1980s, and the company has long been known for its cutting-edge styling. Built on a deep-V hull with prop pockets and a solid fiberglass bottom, the lavish interior of the 390 Sundancer is a blend of high-gloss cherrywood cabinets, Ultraleather upholstery, and vinyl wall coverings. A flat-screen TV is built in above the galley countertop, and by splitting the head into two compartmentstoilet to port and shower to starboardthe salon dimensions are those of a slightly larger boat. For privacy, a sliding door separates the master stateroom from the salon. The 390/40s cockpit is similar to other Sundancer layouts with a U-shaped seating area aft, flip-up helm seat, and Corian-topped wet bar with sink and faucet. The entire cockpit sole can be raised on hydraulic rams for access to the engines. With standard 370hp V-drive gas engines shell cruise in the low 20s (about 30 knots top).
