The profile of the Post 44 is virtually identical to that of the 43 II model, the boat she replaced in the Post fleet in 1990. Indeed, both are built on the same hull, and the cockpit dimensions and bridge layout are identical as well. But where the Post 43 II had a two-stateroom, galley-down layout, the newer 44 has a two-stateroom, two-head floorplan with a smaller salon and a mid-level galley. While the actual salon dimensions of the Post 44 are average for a boat this size, the rich teak woodwork, quality furnishings, and upscale decor are characteristic of Post’s sophisticated interiors. Built for the serious angler, the cockpit has a molded tackle center, two in-deck fish boxes, transom door, and teak covering boards. Topside, the helm console and flybridge layout were state of the art in the early 1990s. On the downside, the engine room is a tight fit with limited headroom. (Note that cockpit engine room access was added beginning with the 1992 models.) A limited-production boat, only a few Post 44s were built every year and most had the optional 550hp 6V92s. She’ll cruise at a fast 27–28 knots and deliver a top speed of 31 knots.
