The Ocean 56 Cockpit MY is basically an Ocean 48 MY with a cockpit. To create this boat, the original 48’s hull was lengthened, and a small skeg was added to the bottom to improve directional stability. Constructed on a relatively flat-bottom hull with Divinycell coring above the waterline, the tapered shape carries the maximum beam well forward of the salon. The 56 is a double-deck motor yacht with an expansive, full-width salon and three staterooms and heads. Both the galley and pilothouse are open to the salon where curved staircases access both the master stateroom and the flybridge. (Note that the master and one guest stateroom are on the lower deck while the forward stateroom in on the mid-level.) Each of the three heads has a separate stall shower, and a door in the midships guest cabin provides direct access to the standup engine room. A small afterdeck overlooks the cockpit, which is large enough for a small fighting chair and came with molded boarding steps and a transom door. A good performer, standard 485hp 6-71 diesels cruise the Ocean 56 Cockpit MY around 22 knots and reach a top speed in the mid 20s.
