Designed by Ed Monk, Jr., on an efficient semi-displacement hull with simulated lapstrake hullsides, the Alexander 60 Pilothouse MY is a traditional double-deck motor yacht with an excellent cruising layout to go with her sturdy offshore character. (Note the salty Portuguese bridge that wraps around the wheelhouse.) Her spacious galley-up floorplan is arranged with four staterooms on the lower level including a big VIP cabin forward and a full-width master suite aft with direct engine room access. On the deckhouse level, the salon and galley are a step down from the wheelhouse with its centerline helm, bridge access staircase, and port and starboard deck doors. A descending staircase in the salon leads down to the master stateroom, and the entire interior of the 60 is finished with handcrafted teak joinery. Additional features include full teak decks, foredeck seating, wide side decks, swim platform, and a unique transom that opens to provide easy access to the swim platform via stairs. While 550hp 6V92 diesels were standard, several Ocean Alexander 60s were delivered with 735hp 8V92s, which deliver a cruising speed of 15–16 knots.
