50 Cockpit MY

1996–2004

Novatec 50 Cockpit MY
Built on a modified-V hull with cored hullsides and plenty of beam, the Novatec 50 Cockpit MY is a practical and affordable boat in a market far too crowded with $1 million-plus 50-footers. So what if the styling is dated—the construction is solid, the teak (or cherry) interior is as well finished as it is seductive, and the standard two-stateroom layout seems ideally suited to a boat this size. Built by the well-regarded Nova Marine yard in Taiwan, the floorplan of the Novatec 50 is open and spacious with large cabin windows and excellent headroom. Both the galley and dinette are down, and there’s a cockpit access door in the master stateroom, a very useful feature that should be standard on most cockpit yachts this size and style. A lower helm is optional. The aft deck offers optional wing doors and hard side panels, and the cockpit is unusually spacious with plenty of room for fishing. Topside, the flybridge has room for three helm chairs and an oversized L-shaped lounge. A bow pulpit, transom door, and swim platform are standard. Among several engine choices offered over the years, twin 450hp Cummins diesels cruise the Novatec 50 at around 14 knots and reach 17–18 knots top.
