There’s nothing high-tech or flashy about the Novatec 55—introduced in 1998, she’s a straightforward cockpit motor yacht with conservative lines, full teak interior, and a large aft deck that can be enclosed and made into a second salon. Built on a modified-V hull with cored hullsides and a solid fiberglass bottom, several two- and three-stateroom floorplans have been offered in the Novatec 55 during her production years, most with the galley in the salon and a king berth in the master suite. The engine room is reached by lifting the forward passageway stairs, and the third stateroom can be replaced by either an office or dinette. Outside, there’s plenty of space on the 55’s large aft deck for an array of deck furnishings (a wet bar, sink and ice maker are standard), and the flybridge comes with three pilot chairs in addition to built-in lounge seating for eight. The grain-matched interior joinery is finished to a very high standard. Additional features include cockpit access to the master stateroom, a swim platform, a cockpit transom door, and a radar arch. Among several engine choices, twin 635hp Cummins diesels cruise the Novatec 55 at 18–20 knots.
