Novatec

48 Sundeck

1997–2002

Novatec 48 Sundeck
The Taiwan-built Novatec 48 (originally a 46-footer until the swim platform was lengthened) is a deceiving boat in that her sedan profile conceals an aft-cabin interior. Built on a low-deadrise modified-V hull with relatively high freeboard, a pair of three-stateroom, galley-down floorplans were available, one with a lower helm (to port rather than starboard which is unusual), and the other with a dinette in lieu of the lower helm. Teak or cherry woodwork is applied generously throughout the interior, and the engine room is accessed by lifting the forward passageway steps. The flybridge extends well aft, providing cockpit shade and extra lounge space above. Note that on the Novatec 48, the swim platform is large enough to handle a personal watercraft. Additional features include a teak cockpit sole, molded swim platform and flybridge steps, a radar arch, and serviceable side decks. Several engine options have been offered over the years. Among them, twin 450hp Cummins diesels (found in more recent models) will cruise the Novatec 48 Sundeck at 22 knots and reach a top speed in the neighborhood of 26–27 knots.
