Nordic
26 Tug
1980–18
The Nordic Tug 26 is a salty and very distinctive character boat with an upright profile (note the plumb bow and fake stack) and a well-arranged interior suitable for the cruising couple. More than just an eye-catching design, however, she’s built well and designed for comfortable coastal cruising. Construction is solid fiberglass, and her full-keel, semi-displacement hull features a rounded transom and a wide 9'6" beam. Two floorplans were available—one with V-berths and the other with an offset double berth—and the original L-shaped lounge in the salon was replaced in 1995 with a dinette. The pilothouse is raised two steps from the salon (engine access is below), and the shaded aft deck is large enough for a couple of deck chairs. With the original 50hp diesel the Nordic 26 will cruise at 6–7 knots burning about a gallon per hour. Note that the Nordic 2-26 model, introduced in 1995, has a slightly raked stack and wider catwalks in addition to the booth-style dinette. Out of production in 1997, she was reintroduced to the Nordic Tug fleet in 2009. A great weekend cruiser for small families, cruise at 7–8 knots (14 knots top) with a single 100hp Yanmar diesel.
