An updated version of the Nordic 39 Tug, the Nordic 40 retains the iconic profile of her predecessor (including the faux smokestack) but with an extended cockpit, larger swim platform, and “stairs” to the upper deck rather than a ladder. A twin-panel sliding glass door provides access to the redesigned salon/galley with an L-shaped galley aft and L-lounge to port. Forward, the master stateroom has a walkaround queen berth and the guest stateroom has a double berth. Visibility from the pilothouse is excellent and sliding port and starboard doors lead to the side decks. The slanted salon windows of the Nordic 40 are a styling compromise—they seem out of place on a Nordic Tug—but are required to accommodate the staircase. Topside, the open cabintop, complete with safety raining, is perfect for socializing. Those with the optional flybridge feature an L-shaped lounge seat and adjustable cocktail table aft of the helm. Built on a semi-displacement hull with a long keel, only a few Nordic 40’s were built. A single 370hp Volvo D-6 diesel engine will cruise at 7–8 knots (17 knots top).
