Since 1989, Neptunus—a Holland-based manufacturer—has been building yachts for the North American market at a facility in Ontario, Canada. Among several models, the Neptunus 55 Sedan (called the Neptunus 51 from 1993–96) proved very popular with North American buyers during the late 1990s. Her angular lines are typical of many European motor yachts of her era; a rakish design with a sweptback profile, an extended flybridge, and a split-level salon with the galley and dinette forward. Essentially a semi-custom yacht, several interior arrangements were offered in the 51/55 although a three-stateroom, two-head layout is typical. A lower helm was optional, and the interior is finished in attractive light ash woodwork. The cockpit is completely shaded by the extended flybridge, and wide walkways make it easy to get around the deck. Topside, the flybridge is arranged with the centerline helm forward with a wet bar and lounge seating aft. The transom platform can accommodate an 11-foot tender. Twin 550-hp 6V92 Detroits cruise the Neptunus 51/55 in the low 20s (about 25 top), and 735-hp 8V92s cruise in the mid 20s and top out at close to 30 knots.
