Monte Fino
Fino 74 Motor Yacht
1996–2002
A handsome yacht, the Monte Fino 74 is a semi-custom design whose quality construction and plush accommodations were offered at a surprisingly competitive price. Indeed, Monte Fino’s enjoyed a well-deserved reputation for value in the late 1990s, and the 74 was a good-selling model (over 20 were delivered). Built on a modified-V hull with cored hullsides and a shallow keel, the standard three-stateroom layout is arranged with crew quarters aft and a full-beam master suite with a king bed and a walk-in closet. A formal dining area is forward in the salon, and the interior is an appealing blend of high-gloss cabinetry, decorator fabrics, and premium furnishings throughout. (In the Skylounge version, a U-shaped dinette replaces the lower helm, and a day head is opposite the galley.) Other layouts offer four staterooms or crew-forward designs, and it should be noted that the 74 Open Bridge has side decks while the Skylounge model has a full-beam salon. Twin 800hp V-drive Cats cruise the Monte Fino 74 at a respectable 17 knots, and a pair of 1,400hp Cats cruise at 20 knots with a top speed of around 24 knots.
