A distinctive yacht from a builder known for innovative design and high-tech epoxy and composite construction, the MJM 50z is a fuel efficient, ocean-capable powerboat designed for the cruising couple. The open pilothouse can be enclosed with Strataglass for protection from the elements, and there are 16 opening portlights, deck hatches and hull ports for light and ventilation. Belowdeck, the open layout of the MJM 50z features a single forward stateroom with desk, easy chair and ensuite head with glass-enclosed shower. The salon has an L-shaped settee that converts to a double berth with a Pullman curtain for privacy and access to a second head with stall shower. All three front windshields open electrically for ventilation, and a hydraulic swim platform can launch and retrieve a tender weighing up to 2,500 pounds. Aside from her classic Downeast styling, the 50z is also the first production yacht to offer the “no roll” Seakeeper gyrostabilizer as standard equipment. The slender, easily driven hull of the 50z is notable for its light weight. Twin Volvo 435hp IPS 600 diesels cruise at 24–25 knots (30+ top). Triple IPS 600s reach over 40 knots top.
