Introduced in 2011, the 541 Sedan is Meridian’s first boat designed from the bottom up to run with pod drives. Also noteworthy is the 541’s unusual interior with the salon forward rather than aft, a layout not seen in a production sedan yacht in many years. The forward area of the salon—three steps up from the galley and dinette level—is much like a home living room with Ultraleather circular seating, hardwood flooring, and panoramic views of the water. Instead of the movable furnishings found in most yachts, the furniture pieces in the 541’s salon are molded fiberglass components that are part of the deck. With the galley aft, a retractable window to the cockpit makes it easy to pass food and drinks to those on the aft deck. Below deck, there are three staterooms and two full heads including an amidships master stateroom with a diagonal queen berth, and VIP stateroom forward with centerline queen bed. A utility room (or optional crew cabin) is abaft the master and accessed from the engine room. With her tall freeboard, close-quarters handling can be a challenge when the wind is blowing. Cummins 715hp QSM11 diesels matched to Zeus pod drives cruise the 541 at 20–22 knots.
