Introduced in 1985, the Mediterranean 38 is among the more popular convertibles her size developed in recent years. She was also one of the better boating values of her daywhatever the 38 might lack in finish and detailing was more than compensated by her sturdy construction and a low, factory-direct price. The 38 is a traditional convertible design built in California on a semi-V hull suitable for fishing, diving, or family cruising. Two floorplans were available: a single-stateroom layout with the galley down and a lower helm in the salon, and a twin-stateroom interior with the galley up and no lower helm. Both plans include a built-in entertainment center in the salon, and a breakfast bar overlooks the galley in the single-stateroom version. Because of her narrow hull and wide side decks, the Mediterraneans interior is small for a 38-footer. Her cockpit, however, is roomy and well equipped. Several gas and diesel engine options were offered over the years, most of which cruise in the low-to-mid 20s. Over 200 Mediterranean 38s are said to have been sold during her production years.
