A heavy dose of European styling — and a very competitive price — combined to make the 4600 SCB a major marketing success for Maxum. Sedan yachts were growing in popularity during the late 1990s, and the SCB hit the sweet spot with families who recognized a good value. The two-stateroom interior is arranged with a mid-level galley forward to port in the salon, opposite a raised dinette (or optional lower helm station). Large windows provide panoramic views of the water, and the salon overhead features contoured sofits and recessed halogen lighting. Corian counters and hardwood flooring accent the SCB’s full-service galley, and a long C-shaped leather sofa with table dominates the salon. The master stateroom has a walkaround island berth forward with an ensuite head with tub/shower stall. The guest stateroom to starboard has twin berths and access to the second day head to port, also with a separate stall shower. A center transom door in the cockpit leads to an extended swim platform large enough to accommodate a PWC. At just over 30,000 pounds, the 4600 is light boat for her size. Cummins 370hp engines cruise at 16–18 knots, and 450hp Cummins cruise at 20–22 knots.
