40 Sundeck
1983–2000
Introduced in 1983, the Marine Trader 40 Sundeck is a roomy aft cabin cruising yacht notable for her affordable price and economical operation. Like most Marine Trader models, the 40 rides on a solid fiberglass hull with hard aft chines, a well-flared bow, and a long, prop-protecting keel. Her standard two-stateroom interior—completely finished with well-crafted teak joinery—is arranged with the galley down, which allows for a wide-open salon. If the bow stateroom is a little small, the owner’s aft stateroom is huge with plenty of built-in storage drawers, a big hanging locker, and a large head with a built-in tub. A serving bar opposite the lower helm overlooks the galley, and port and starboard deck doors in the salon provide easy access to the decks. Topside, the full-width sundeck is among the largest to be found on a boat this size. Additional features include an aft deck hardtop, teak handrails, bow pulpit, and a teak swim platform. Twin 135hp Lehman diesels (a single Lehman is standard) will cruise the Marine Trader 40 at 7–8 knots. Note that the Marine Trader 44 Yachtfish is the same boat with a cockpit addition.
