39 Tradewinds

The Tradewinds 39 is a modern sundeck motor yacht whose chief attractions were a low price and a traditional teak interior. Like all Tradewinds models, the 39 was built by Lien Hwa in Taiwan on a solid fiberglass hull with a wide beam and a shallow keel for directional stability. Below, the galley-down floorplan of the 39 is arranged with double berths in both staterooms and a standard lower helm station. The interior got the full Asian teak treatment, and wraparound cabin windows admit plenty of outside lighting. With over 14 feet of beam, the Tradewinds is a relatively roomy boat inside in spite of her wide side decks. A full dinette is opposite the galley, and there’s a separate stall shower compartment in the aft stateroom. On the downside, the aft deck is small with just enough room for a couple of deck chairs. Additional features include a radar arch, swim platform, bow pulpit, and generous storage. Twin 135hp Lehman diesels were standard, which will provide a cruising speed of 7–8 knots. Larger (and more popular) 225hp Lehmans cruise the Tradewinds 39 at around 13–14 knots (18 knots top).
