While a huge interior is obviously the theme of this boat, the bloated, egg-shaped profile of the Mainship 35 Open Bridge (called the 36 Sedan Bridge in 1992) leaves a lot to be desired from the standpoint of eye appeal. Appearances aside, however, the full-beam interior of the 35 Open is ideally suited to entertaining a small crowd. Built on a low-deadrise, modified-V hull, the single-level interior—with nearly 7 feet of headroom—seems cavernous. The salon can comfortably seat a party of eight for cocktails, and the galley came with a full-size refrigerator and microwave. Note that a separate stall shower is found in the head compartment. On the downside, the cabin windows are very small and the absence of outside natural lighting is notable. Topside, molded steps lead from the small cockpit to the flybridge where a semicircular lounge can seat several guests. Additional features include a centerline walk-through from the bridge to the foredeck, radar arch, cherry interior joinery, and an integrated swim platform. Standard 320hp gas engines cruise the Mainship 35 Open at a respectable 17–18 knots and deliver a top speed of around 28 knots.
