The Mainship 31 Pilot is a slightly larger version of the original (super-popular) Mainship 30 Sedan produced from 200007. Both are Downeast-style hardtops with semi-enclosed helms, single-diesel propulsion, and cruise-friendly interiors with open layouts and berths for four. Because the 31 Pilot was introduced at the height of the Great Recessionand because Mainships days were numberedonly a limited number were sold before the company ended production. The focal point of the the boat is the spacious helm deck. Enclosed on three sides (and available with an aft enclosure), a galley area behind the helm seat includes an electric grill, refrigerator/freezer and sink. Opposite the galley is L-shaped lounge seating for four people with a folding dinette table. Belowdecks, the convertible sofa to port converts to upper/lower berths and an island queen berth is forward. The cherry planked cabin sole is a nice touch. A TV/DVD and six opening ports are standard. Designed as a couples boat, the 31 Pilot rides on a semi-displacement hull with a moderate 10'2"" beam. A single Yanmar 315hp diesel engine will cruise the 31 Pilot 1416 knots. Engine access is excellent.
