The Mainship 30 Pilot Sedan is a hardtop version of Mainship 30 Pilot introduced a year earlier. With her distinctive retro styling and semi-enclosed helm and bridge deck, the Sedan offers the weather protection absent in the express-style Pilot. Built on a solid fiberglass semi-displacement hull with a prop-protecting skeg, the Pilot is suited to a variety of uses. A large cockpit makes the Mainship a great fish or dive platform, and her economical operation and comfortable accommodations appeal to weekend cruisers. Dont look for a lot of glitz in the Pilotthis is a basic boat with modest amenities and good-enough workmanship. Below, the cabin was originally set up with a V-berth/dinette forward, full-service galley, good-sized head, and a teak-and-holly sole. In 2003, the Series II Pilot featured an updated cherry interior and a revised cabin layout with a V-berth that folds in half when not in use. For improved handling, the Series II also incorporates a shortened keel, propeller tunnel, and larger five-blade prop. A swim platform, transom door, and bow pulpit are standard. Early models with a single 170hp Yanmar diesel will cruise at 1415 knots. Series II models with a 315hp Yanmar cruise at 1718 knots (low 20s top).
