Closely resembling the earlier Luhrs 3400 Motor Yacht (1990–92), the Luhrs 3420 Motor Yacht has a larger cockpit, a smaller salon, and a revised flybridge layout without the foredeck walk-through. (No, we don’t know why Luhrs called this boat a motor yacht: she looks like a flybridge convertible to us.) Hull construction is solid fiberglass—the same tried-and-true design first used for the Luhrs 340. Inside, the single-stateroom floorplan is arranged with the mid-level galley open to the salon. Note that the head is divided with the sink and toilet to port and the shower across the hallway. The interior is attractively finished with colorful fabrics and accented with a modest amount of teak trim. Outside, the cockpit is small—useful for entertaining and cruising, but not suitable for any serious fishing pursuits. Guest seating is provided forward of the helm console on the flybridge, and the aluminum arch was standard. Additional features include a built-in entertainment center, oak parquet galley sole, fish box, washdown, cockpit bridge overhang, and a swim platform with molded baitwell. Twin 340hp gas engines cruise the Luhrs 3420 MY at 19–20 knots and reach a top speed of around 28 knots.
