Jersey

42 Dawn

1988–91

Jersey 42 Dawn
With her flowing lines and graceful profile, the Jersey 42 Dawn was a handsome boat when she was introduced in 1988, and she remains a distinctive design even by today’s high-glitz convertible standards. She rides on a low-deadrise, solid fiberglass hull with relatively deep keel, and her flat aftersections make the 42 a quick boat to accelerate out of the hole. While most modern convertible designs eliminate the front windshield, the Jersey 42 retained the front windows—a feature that makes for a very wide-open salon. A pair of two-stateroom interiors were available, one of which included a dinette. Both plans have a queen-sized berth in the master stateroom, and both include a built-in entertainment center in the salon. The cockpit, partially shaded by a flybridge overhang, is very spacious and came with a molded tackle center, transom door, and bolsters. Additional features include a large flybridge with guest seating forward of the helm, teak interior cabinetry, wide side decks, and a bow pulpit. Caterpillar 375hp diesels cruise the Jersey 42 at 20 knots with a top speed of 24–25 knots. A pair of 485hp 6-71 Detroits cruise in the mid 20s and top out at just under 30 knots.
