The Hunt 36 Harrier is an impressive blend of classic express-boat styling, superb build quality, and terrific open-water performance. There’s a lot to like about this boat, and while she’s hardly inexpensive, most would agree that the Harrier ranks among the leaders in the high-end, midsize express market. With her lightweight construction (the hull is fully cored), slender 11-foot beam, and deep-V bottom, the Harrier is designed to take on some seriously rough water. Below, the open cabin layout is simple, yet beautifully appointed, with the galley to port at the base of the companionway steps, an island berth forward, and an enclosed head to starboard. Satin-finished cherry cabinetry, Corian counters, and a rich teak-and-ash floor give the Harrier’s interior an upscale and very elegant flavor. Topside, the L-shaped settee on the helm deck can be extended by lowering the forward passenger seat, and the cockpit can be left open for fishing or set up with extra seating for cruising. For access to the engines, the entire deck rises on a pair of hydraulic rams. A quick performer, the Harrier will cruise at 30 knots with a pair of 370hp Yanmar diesels and reach a top speed of about 35 knots.
