The Hinckley 37 Picnic Boat MKIII is an updated and redesigned version of the companys iconic 36 Picnic Boat introduced in 1994. The MKIII is wider and longer than her predecessor with twin engines rather than one and a new hull design with increased transom deadrise. The result is a heavier and faster boat with similar lines but without the centerline engine box of the original Picnic Boat. There are two separate seating areas in the MKIII, one with facing settees and drop-leaf table under the hardtop, and the other with fore- and aft-facing seats in the open-air cockpit. The bridge deck, one step up from the cockpit, features a pair of Stidd chairs that swivel to face aft. Below deck, the interior is finished in satin-varnished cherry wood and the cabin sole is varnished teak. In 2012, Hinckley introduced the latest version of the Picnic Boat MKIII which included an island queen berth and the Yanmar 370 engine package. The engines are directly under the pilothouse, and the twin Hamilton waterjetsunder the cockpit solesit above the keel where they are protected from grounding. Early models with Volvo 300hp D4 diesels cruise the MKIII at 2425 knots. Yanmar 370s cruise at over 30 knots.
