38 El Bravo

1990–2005

Henriques 38 El Bravo
Constructed on the proven hull of the Henriques 38 Sport Fisherman with moderate beam, a fairly sharp entry, and cored hullsides, the 38 El Bravo is a good-looking express fisherman with an array of features that serious anglers will appreciate. Foremost among her attributes is an absolutely huge fishing cockpit—only the Blackfin 38 rivals the El Bravo in cockpit space for a boat this size. Not surprisingly, the El Bravo’s single-stateroom interior is small for a 38-footer since so much of the boat’s length has been given over to the cockpit. A wraparound helm console provides space for flush-mounting most electronics, and a centerline hatch on the bridge deck provides quick and easy access to the motors. Standard features include a generator, in-deck fish boxes, transom door, cockpit washdowns, and lots of tackle and rod storage. Note that the El Bravo was out of production from 1996 until she was reintroduced in 2001. Among several engine options, twin 430hp Volvo (or 435hp Cat) diesels cruise in the low-to-mid 20s and top out at close to 30 knots, and 465hp Yanmar (or 480 Volvo) diesels cruise in the high 20s and hit 30+ knots wide open.
