The Henriques 35 Express is a popular offshore fisherman whose graceful lines and rugged construction will appeal to experienced East Coast anglers. Henriques has always focused on building durable, no-frills boats and the 35 Express is a triumph of practicality over glitz. Riding on a solid fiberglass hull with a shallow keel and a well-flared bow, her single-stateroom interior was originally arranged with a lower double berth and single upper berth forward, an enclosed head with shower, full galley, and a convertible dinette. Note that in 2002, the floorplan was revised to include a conventional V-berth forward. In either layout, the absence of any cabin bulkheads results in an expansive and very wide-open interior. Standard features in the 100-square-foot cockpit include two in-deck fish boxes, fresh- and saltwater washdowns, bait-prep station, sink, transom door and plenty of rod storage. The engine room, accessed via a hydraulic hatch in the bridge steps, is big for a boat this size. Among several engine choices, twin 370hp Volvo diesels cruise the 35 Express in the mid 20s (about 28 knots top). Twin 420hp Yanmar diesels cruise at 28 knots and top out at 30+ knots.
